Dakota is the founder & designer of SAPLING & FLINT, an authentic Native American lifestyle brand that invites all peoples to share in on the celebration of authentic Indigenous cultural art forms in the 21st Century. Founded in 2014, it began with Dakota and her twin sister selling cellphone covers out of a small booth to friends and family in their home community, and has grown to a successful online brand that caters to customers worldwide. SAPLING & FLINT Designs can be found in 6 retails stores throughout Ontario & Quebec Canada, and New York State, USA. In March 2017, SAPLING & FLINT launched its flagship location SAPLING & FLINT GALLERY, located in the heart of the village of Ohsweken, in the Haudenosaunee Territory where Dakota was born, raised, and currently resides. The gallery is a retail store for SAPLING & FLINT, a flagship location of Dakota's original art pieces, offers art workshops to promote a revitalization of traditional Haudenosaunee art forms such as beadwork, and moccasin making.
